Iran ready to help ease tension between Armenia, Azerbaijan

TEHRAN - Iran's Foreign Ministry on Thursday announced the readiness of the Islamic republic to mediate between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the wake of their deadly border clashes.

Mousavi urged both sides to show restraint amid the escalating tensions.

The armed clashes erupted on Sunday in the Tavush region between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with both sides trading accusations over who started the fighting and violated the cease-fire.
