Beijing sees 7 out of mainland's 12 new COVID-19 cases

BEIJING - Beijing reported seven newly confirmed COVID-19 cases transmitted domestically and one asymptomatic case on Sunday, the municipal health commission said Monday.

Four new suspected cases were registered on Sunday, the commission said in a daily report.

From June 11 to 28, Beijing has reported 318 confirmed domestic cases, all of which are receiving treatment. There are 26 asymptomatic cases still under medical observation, the municipal health commission said

On the mainland, a total of 12 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported Sunday, including seven that were transmitted locally and five imported ones, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

All the cases transmitted domestically were reported in Beijing, whereas for the new imported cases, three were reported in Sichuan province, one in Liaoning province and one in Shanghai, the commission said.

No deaths related to COVID-19 were reported Sunday, according to the commission.

Nine more patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on Sunday, and four new suspected cases, all in Beijing, were reported.

As of Sunday, the overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 83,512, including 418 patients who were still being treated, with eight in severe conditions.

Altogether, 78,460 people had been discharged from hospitals after recovery and 4,634 people had died of the disease, the commission said.

By Sunday, the mainland had reported a total of 1,907 imported cases. Out of all the imported cases, 1,823 had been discharged after recovery while 84 remained hospitalized, including one in severe condition. No deaths from imported cases had been reported.

The commission said there were 10 suspected cases by Sunday. 

According to the commission, 7,012 close contacts were still under medical observation after 824 people were released from medical observation on Sunday.

Six new asymptomatic cases, including five imported from abroad, were reported on the mainland Sunday, it said, adding that one asymptomatic case was re-categorized as a confirmed case. Nine asymptomatic cases were released from medical observation.

The commission said 102 asymptomatic cases, including 63 imported from abroad, were still under medical observation.

By Sunday, 1,199 confirmed cases, including seven deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 447 in Taiwan, including seven deaths.

A total of 1,104 patients in the Hong Kong SAR, 45 in the Macao SAR, and 435 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
