CBA restarts with wins for Beijing, Guangdong and Xinjiang

BEIJING —Powerhouses Guangdong, Xinjiang and Beijing wrapped up victories on Saturday, when the 2019-2020 CBA season restarted after a 151-day break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reigning champions Guangdong Southeast Tigers downed Shanxi Loongs 105-82. Sonny Weems pocketed 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Yi Jianlian contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds with only 22 minutes on the court.

Second-placed Xinjiang Flying Tigers also had an easy win. Zhou Qi collected 22 points and 15 rebounds, helping Xinjiang turn the tables in the third quarter to get the 113-99 victory over Qingdao Eagles.

Thanks to team work and high-quality defense, Beijing Ducks brought down Liaoning Flying Leopards 91-82. Jeremy Lin and five of his Beijing teammates all finished with double figure point totals.

Beijing move up to the third place on CBA standings thanks to the win, and Liaoning drop to fifth.

In Saturday's other two games, Jiangsu Dragons beat the Shenzhen Aviators 105-98, and Zhejiang Lions smashed Nanjing Monkey Kings 112-95.
