Jeremy Lin pays tribute to medical workers in Beijing

BEIJING - Jeremy Lin, who plays for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league, paid tribute to the medical workers in Beijing on his social media account as the CBA is set to restart on Saturday.

The photos he posted showed medical workers taking a short break on the ground from collecting throat swabs on a hot summer's day from Beijing citizens for nucleic acid tests

"Right now we are in Qingdao to prepare for the restart of the CBA season," wrote Lin on his Weibo. "With all my sincerity, I would like to say thank you to all the medical workers who work relentlessly on such hot days. We all need to be persistent, stick together and keep fighting, come on!"

The photos he posted showed medical workers taking a short break on the ground from collecting throat swabs on a hot summer's day from Beijing citizens for nucleic acid tests.

Beijing has been reporting new confirmed COVID-19 cases in recent days related to its Xinfadi wholesale market, triggering large scale nucleic acid testing covering residents live in concerned areas of the city.

As the epidemic situation is largely under control nationwide, the CBA season is set to to restart on Saturday with 10 teams playing in Qingdao and the other 10 in Donguan. The Beijing Ducks are ready for their first game against the Liaoning Flying Leopards, after the whole team tested negative following their arrival in Qingdao on June 15.

"Everyone in our team will give it their all and fight for Beijing city!" wrote Lin.
