Mertens extends contract with Napoli

ROME - Dries Mertens has penned a new contract with Napoli until 2022, the southern Italy club confirmed on Wednesday.

Mertens, who joined Napoli in 2013, became the all-time top scorer of Partenopei with 122 goals after an equalizer in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia last Saturday.

According to Napoli, the new contract includes an option for a third season.
