MADRID - La Liga moves from Matchday 28 to Matchday 29 without pause for breath as the 'new normality' in Spanish football continues this week.

The first round of games played behind closed doors showed that taking fans from the stands is likely to make life harder for home sides, with home sides winning just four of the matches - among those, Real Madrid, who beat struggling Eibar 3-1, and Espanyol, who took advantage of the 18th minute sending off of Alaves keeper, Fernando Pacheco to beat the Basque side 2-0 on Saturday.

With the games coming thick and fast and most teams having little more than 72 hours recovery time, most coaches will make sweeping changes to their teams when the 29th round of matches kicks off with Levante entertaining Sevilla and Betis facing Granada in an Andalusia derby.

Villarreal gave their hopes of playing in Europe a major boost with a late win away to Celta Vigo and they face another struggling team when Mallorca visit their Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday evening

Due to construction work in their Ciudad de Valencia Stadium, Levante play Sevilla 140 kilometers from home in the La Nucia Stadium; Paco Lopez's side took a last minute point from neighbors Valencia on Friday, while Sevilla enjoyed an easy win in their local derby against Betis.

Betis' capitulation has put the pressure on coach Joan Ferrer 'Rubi' who needs a win against Granada to once again quieten rumors over his future at the club. Granada did well to come from a goal down to beat Getafe in their return to action and keep their top-seven hopes very much intact.

Getafe play Espanyol on Tuesday, with their rivals receiving a big morale boost from their win at home to Alaves. Wu Lei's side remains bottom of the table, but a point or more against Getafe will increase their belief in survival.

Villarreal gave their hopes of playing in Europe a major boost with a late win away to Celta Vigo and they face another struggling team when Mallorca visit their Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday evening.

Mallorca lost 4-0 at home to Barca on Saturday and expect players such as Lago Junior to be in the visitors' starting 11.

Barca are back in action on Tuesday and should take all three points from Leganes, whose survival prospects suffered an important setback as they lost to Valladolid on Saturday.

Jordi Alba is suspended for Barca, although Clement Lenglet is available after being banned for the trip to Mallorca and it will be interesting to see how Barca coach Quique Setien rotates his squad with players such as Samuel Umtiti, Luis Suarez, Arthur Melo, Ivan Rakitic and Nelson Semedo starting on the bench at the weekend, while Leo Messi played all 90 minutes.

Wednesday kicks off with a Basque derby between Eibar and Athletic Club with both sides needing all three points for different reasons as Eibar look to avoid the drop and Athletic continue to eye a return to Europe.

Valladolid could take a major stride towards safety if they can beat Celta Vigo, while there should be a physical contest in El Sadar as Osasuna face Atletico Madrid. Osasuna go into the game after taking a valuable point from Real Sociedad, while Atletico's Champions League ambitions can't afford any more slipups after drawing 1-1 in Bilbao.

Matchday 29 ends on Thursday with Alaves, who will have Roberto Jimenez in goal for the suspended Pacheco play a Basque derby against Real Sociedad, while Real Madrid enjoy their second home match following the restart when Valencia visit the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.
