BERLIN - Joshua Kimmich's jubilation after the final whistle of the German "Classico" tells the story of the Bundesliga's top act between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

Joshua Kimmich symbolically stood for Bayern's better quality in comparison with Dortmund, commented Germany's record international Lothar Matthaeus

The 25-year-old not only scored the winning goal (1-0) by magnificently chipping the ball over keeper Roman Buerki but turned into a determined and ruthless leader running his team's performance.

109 ball touches and 13.7 kilometers run were proof that the German international was the Bavarians top performer.

Kimmich symbolically stood for Bayern's better quality in comparison with Dortmund, commented Germany's record international Lothar Matthaeus.

The 58-year-old is convinced the midfielder is on his way to taking over the captains' job in his club and the national team. "He stands for the greediness Bayern has, and Dortmund lacked today," Matthaeus added.

Seven points ahead and six rounds of matches to go, the Munich side seems on their unstoppable path to winning their eighth consecutive league title.

"This goal has decided the destination of this season's title," Matthaeus stressed, adding Kimmich is obsessed about getting close to perfection.

The highly praised Bayern midfield general admitted to being still full of adrenalin minutes after the game. "I'm extremely pleased," he said. "I guess it's going to be mentally difficult for Dortmund to keep up the spirit now," Kimmich said.

In other words, Bayern won't relinquish its lead with the finishing line in sight.

The reigning national champions closed down spaces in midfield and neutralized the Black and Yellows forceful full-backs, Achraf Hakimi and Raphael Guerreiro.

While Bayern is riding the wave after its ninth win in a row, Dortmund has been hit by a controversial debate about their coach Lucien Favre.

The Swiss manager is under fire after gifted Jadon Sancho and midfield fighter Emre Can were left on the bench for 45 minutes.

Not only Matthaeus accused the 62-year-old of having gambled away the opportunity to challenge Bayern.

After Favre announced he would talk openly in a few weeks, Matthaeus expects him to quit his job after the season. "I wouldn't be surprised if he left. His statements don't allow any other interpretation in my mind," Matthaeus said.

Favre left at Hertha BSC and Moenchengladbach before his contracts ended. The Dortmund coach appeared annoyed, saying: "I know about the debate. It has been going on for several months. I know how things work, but I trust myself, and I am calm," Favre replied.

Former Bayern captain Matthaeus spoke about Niko Kovac as a possible successor.

"In a game like this, providing the chance to catch up and beat Bayern, you need to take some risks and signal determination," the TV-pundit said.

German international Can expressed his frustration about being left out of the starting 11. "I hoped to be on the team. We wouldn't be debating the matter if we had won. Now we can talk about this," the 26-year-old emphasized.

Never in history has a team let a seven-point lead slip at this stage of the season.

After failing in the German Cup and the Champions League, Dortmund is seemingly out of the running to win a title. It is Favre's second year having unsuccessfully tried to turn things around for the Westphalians.

Dortmund's Mats Hummels admitted the race for the 2019/2020 title had been decided. "I guess this result tells us all other teams are out of the race. It's only up to Bayern now," the 31-year-old commented.

Bayern does not only impress with 81 scored goals but a rock-solid defense (allowing 28 goals in 28 games).
