PLA HK garrison's chopper crashes, no resident injured

HONG KONG - The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government's Security Bureau said on Tuesday that a notification was received Tuesday from the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to inform the Bureau of an accident involving a helicopter of the garrison.

A spokesperson of the garrison said that the cause of the accident is under investigation

The accident occurred Monday afternoon during the garrison's flight training operation conducted in Tai Lam Country Park, according to the Bureau.

The incident did not involve any injury to local people or damage to residences, a spokesman for the Bureau said, noting that the garrison is handling and investigating it in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on Garrisoning the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Bureau will continue to liaise with the garrison on the incident, the spokesman added.

A spokesperson of the garrison said that the cause of the accident is under investigation.
