The announcement came after the SAR government issued a red outbound travel alert on Italy’s Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto regions earlier on the same day. The three regions cover Bologna, Milan, Venice and Verona.

A red outbound travel alert on Iran was issued on Jan 10.

Starting from March 1, anyone — including local residents — arriving Hong Kong who have been to the three Italian regions and Iran in the past 14 days will be arranged to stay in a quarantine center, according to a government statement issued on Friday.
