Police haters clearly harbor very malicious intentions
By Staff Writer

Opposition members of the Legislative Council, as widely expected, put on a show of utmost hypocrisy and contempt for the popular will on Thursday by threatening to block the 2020-21 Budget plan if the SAR government insists on increasing the budget for the Hong Kong Police Force in the next fiscal year. The absolutely outrageous response by opposition lawmakers and their supporters to the new budget plan, presented by Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po on Wednesday, once again demonstrated just how determined they are to destroy Hong Kong’s stability and prosperity by bringing the SAR government, and the police force in particular, to their knees.

Numerous members of the public would agree with the financial secretary when he noted that people will never forget the fear and strife resulting from seven months of wanton violence and destruction at the hands of masked rioters in black

The 2020-21 Budget plan proposed to raise spending in maintaining law enforcement efficiency to HK$26 billion (US$3.3 billion) in the next fiscal year, an increase of 9 percent from the current one. It is based on standard calculations in financial planning and complies with relevant laws - as do other categories of government spending. More importantly, as the financial chief explained, police officers had to work extended hours on a daily basis for months since riots and criminal vandalism broke out in June last year and therefore need more financial support from the public coffers.
Numerous members of the public would agree with the financial secretary when he noted that people will never forget the fear and strife resulting from seven months of wanton violence and destruction at the hands of masked rioters in black. What he didn’t mention is the fact that the same opposition politicians have been playing an indispensable role in the illegal campaign commonly referred to as the “black revolution” to undermine the faithful implementation of “one country, two systems” in Hong Kong. Their no-holds-barred involvement in illegal assemblies, as well as vocal support for indiscriminate abuse of local residents’ rights and even threats to personal safety, has been captured on myriad digital media and seen around the world.
Given the opposition’s uncontrollable hatred for the police, it is not difficult at all for the public to see why the likes of Claudia Mo Man-ching and Chu Hoi-dick are so mad at the 2020-21 Budget and why they would do anything to crush the police force spiritually and physically as well. Of course, they would not have been so hateful of “universal values” had the police betrayed their oath to serve and protect the people and become instead executioners of those who reject everything the illegal campaign stands for. They have no qualms about keeping Hong Kong society in endless fear and suffering by all means imaginable or destroying anyone in their way, which is precisely why the great majority of local residents support the police force wholeheartedly. The police haters harbor the malicious intention of hamstringing the police force that stands in their way, but they can never succeed.
