BERLIN - RB Leipzig recaptured the top spot in the standings after moving 3-0 past relegation threatened Werder Bremen in the 22nd round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

With the victory, Leipzig climb back atop the standings for the moment while Werder Bremen remain stuck in the Bundesliga bottom

Leipzig ended their winless run of two straight draws after cruising to a 3-0 win over Bremen on the goals from Lukas Klostermann, Patrik Schick and Nordi Mukiele.

The visitors did not need long to get their first chance on target as Dani Olmo pulled over the bar from promising position in the 7th minutes.

It took Leipzig another 10 minutes to eventually break the deadlock as Angelino's free-kick cross into the box found it's way via Schick to Klostermann, who tapped home left footed.

Werder Bremen tried to respond but they were unable to pose any threat to the host's well-positioned defence. Milot Rashica created a half-chance for the visitors after rifling a shot over the bar.

It remained Bremen's only note worthy chance of the first half whereas Leipzig staged a clinical chance conversion as Schick nodded home Olmo's corner to double the lead from central position inside the box in the 38th minute.

Leipzig caught a perfect start into second half as Konrad Laimer's through ball allowed Mukiele to put the ball past Bremen goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka.

The third goal took the win out of Bremen's sails while Leipzig protected their three-goal advantage to record 13th win of the season.

With the victory, Leipzig climb back atop the standings for the moment while Werder Bremen remain stuck in the Bundesliga bottom.

"There is no two ways about it that Leipzig's home win is deserved. After the break we immediately conceded the 3-0 the game was of course over then," Bremen head coach Florian Kohfeldt said.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen came from behind and downed newly promoted Union Berlin 3-2 on Karim Bellarabi's late goal.

Hertha Berlin increased Paderborn's relegation worries after benefitting on Jamilu Collin's 2-1 own goal.

Wolfsburg see off Hoffenheim 3-2 by courtesy on Wout Weghorst's hat rick and Augsburg shared the spoils with Freiburg following a goalless draw.
