PARIS - Edinson Cavani will not leave Paris Saint-Germain until his contract ended this summer, said the club head coach Thomas Tuchel on Friday.

The Uruguayan forward has been linked with Spanish club Atletico Madrid, Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea, and MLS club Inter Miami in the past month. But the Ligue 1 champions finally decided to keep their record scorer of all time.

He needs to regain confidence and rhythm, which is normal for a striker. Edi is here and is a great player for the club.

"There are worse situations than being the attacker for Paris Saint-German," Tuchel spoke at the conference before their league clash against Montpellier on Saturday. "Edinson will be feeling good soon."

The 32-year-old Cavani has been out of the regular starting 11 since the arrival of former Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi, who joined Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to form the new front trio at PSG.

Cavani has scored five goals in 14 appearances this season but only started three times in Ligue 1, while his contender Icardi has scored 17 goals in 24 games since joining PSG on a one-year loan in August.

"He needs to regain confidence and rhythm, which is normal for a striker. Edi is here and is a great player for the club," Tuchel added.
