LONDON - Manchester United will be without England striker Marcus Rashford for around two months, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

Speaking after his side's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, United coach Solskjaer explained that Rashford had suffered a stress fracture in his back during last week's FA Cup game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Marcus suffered a stress fracture against Wolverhampton. I don't know how long he will be out. We will give him enough time to heal

"Marcus suffered a stress fracture against Wolverhampton. I don't know how long he will be out. We will give him enough time to heal. It's normally six weeks before you get going slightly, and then he will need time to get match-fit again," Solskjaer said.

The coach also revealed that Rashford had actually suffered a double fracture, but insisted that both had occurred during the same game.

"I don't want to go into too much detail but it happened in that game. We've just got to deal without him for a while. He's been absolutely fantastic all season," he added.

Solskjaer added that the injury would grant more opportunities to the club's young forward Mason Greenwood.

The injury is also bad news for England coach Gareth Southgate as he prepares for this summer's European Championships.

Southgate is already without captain Harry Kane for warm-up games against Denmark and Italy in March, with the Tottenham Hotspur striker recovering from a hamstring injury that will sideline him until at least April.

If Rashford is sidelined for two months, he too will struggle to be fit for those games, further complicating Southgate's plans ahead of the summer tournament.
