MADRID — Spanish La Liga side Sevilla have signed Leganes' Moroccan international forward Youssef En-Nesyri in a deal worth 20 million euros (around US$22 million).

None of Sevilla's specialist forwards has scored more than two league goals this season, with the scoring distributed throughout the team

The club coached by former Spain boss, Julen Lopetegui have decided to pay En-Neysiri's release clause in a bid to add more firepower to their attack, which has been their major weakness this season.

Winger Lucas Ocampos has been a success, his five goals make him the club's top scorer, while the Javier Hernandez and Luuk de Jong, who were signed over the summer to provide goals, have so far failed to do that with Hernandez netting just once, while De Jong has just two league goals from 16 appearances.

Indeed, none of Sevilla's specialist forwards has scored more than two league goals this season, with the scoring distributed throughout the team.

En-Neysiri has hardly been prolific so far in his short career, with the 22-year-old netting five league goals in 38 appearances for a struggling Malaga, before moving to Leganes, where he scored nine goals last season and four so far this campaign.

However, the youngster has shown himself to be a powerful runner and would offer a much more direct and physical presence for Sevilla than either De Jong or Hernandez, creating space for players such as Munir, Fran Vazquez, and Ocampos, while he clearly has a lot of potential to develop further as a player.
