HONG KONG – Xia Baolong, the nation’s top official overseeing Hong Kong and Macao Affairs, kicked off his seven-day inspection visit to Macao on Monday.
Xia, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, arrived at Macao International Airport at around 3:30 pm on Monday.
During his stay in Macao, Xia intends to find out about the SAR's latest social and economic development
After leaving the airport, Xia visited the construction site of Macao Bridge — the city’s fourth bridge connecting Macao Peninsula and Taipa — local media reported. The bridge is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.

Macao Chief Executive Ho Iat-Seng expressed gratitude for the central government’s long-term care and support for Macao, and he warmly welcomed Xia’s inspection visit.
Xia’s inspection tour runs from May 13 to 19, three days longer than his previous visit to Macao, which lasted from May 23 to 26, 2023.
