BEIRUT - Hezbollah said Monday that the Islamic Resistance, its military wing, carried out an airstrike on the Israeli soldiers stationed at the Al-Motella settlement, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.

Hezbollah said in a statement that several vehicles were either destroyed or damaged in the drone attack targeting the military site located south of Al-Motella.

Meanwhile, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua that about 20 surface-to-surface missiles and several drones were launched towards northern Israel, some of which were intercepted by Israeli Iron Dome missiles.

The sources, who spoke anonymously, added that Israeli warplanes carried out 14 airstrikes targeting different areas in the Jezzine region, about 18 km from the borderline separating Lebanon and Israel, and no casualties were reported.

Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.
