Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) remains committed to maintaining its pivotal role in the economy and community, and in fostering the development of Hong Kong as a top tourist destination in Asia.  Since opening in 2005, the resort has remained one of Hong Kong’s largest employers in the tourism and family entertainment industry.

On March 20, HKDL hosted its first Service Celebration to honour and recognize the cast members and Imagineers who have dedicated 10 years or more of service to the company. This really is an experience they can’t get from any other employer. Only at Disney could you celebrate years of service with the red-carpet treatment at the Happiest Place on Earth. This is an event that happens for cast all over the world at our theme parks as well.

Michael Moriarty, managing director of HKDL, said “We have over 2,000 honorees for this first ever Service Celebration which means almost one third of our current HKDL team has been with us for more than a decade! Hong Kong Disneyland is more than just a workplace to you. It is a second home, where you have witnessed and contributed to the growth and success of our resort.”

Jill Estorino, President and Managing Director of Disney Parks International, said “From the original park, our first expansion, to the most recent grand opening of World of Frozen, so many of you have contributed and been part of these wonderful milestones over the years. Every cast member and Imagineer here tonight is a Magic Makers. Your commitment, passion and dedication play a key role in making Hong Kong Disneyland the special place that it is.”

The celebration provides the invited cast members, and their families and friends, the best of the latest offerings in a night. This includes an exclusive red carpet moment, a special ceremony and drone show with Momentous nighttime spectacular in front of the Castle of Magical Dreams, drone show at world’s first and largest World of Frozen themed land, and different kinds of experiences around the park.

Eleanor from Custodial Operations has been with HKDL since its opening in 2005. Over the years, she witnessed the park launching different new lands, new rides, and new performances, creating wonderful experiences for guests unstoppably.

A few years after Eleanor has joined, her daughter Cindy was also recruited into Hotel Operations. While working at the resort, she met her husband, Lun, also from Hotel Operations. To challenge herself, Cindy changed to Facility Services team not long ago. Lun has been working in Hotel Operations at two resort hotels. With his fruitful experiences, he is now the lead in the team, training new joiners. Besides, he is also a Disney Traditions Trainer.

Although they do not work together on a daily basis, they attend cast-exclusive events and wait one another to back home together after work. Working together as a family at Disneyland gives them a lot of common topics to talk about. They can share news from both the park and the hotel with each other, keeping them closely connected to all the happenings at the company.

Rodolf and Randolf from Entertainment team are twin brothers. 12 years ago, they both joined HKDL through an audition for dancers at the age of 22. Today, the two of them continue to perform together in the same show, bringing captivating performances to our guests. Even though they had language barrier when they first joined the team, the colleagues were accommodating and helpful to each other, allowing them to gradually integrate into the team. HKDL also has many cast member from the Philippines, which gave the two brothers the sense of belonging in this magical place.

In addition to their daily performances, Rodolf and Randolf also undergo a series of preparation work every day at work, including briefings, warm-ups and training, to ensure that they can give the best performance to all the guests. They have hardly ever been apart from each other since childhood and with their common interests and talents, they are so happy to continue doing what they love and performing on stage together at HKDL, which definitely strengthens their bond.

We respect and encourage different cultures and values to build an inclusive and diverse working environment.”

Starting from this year, the service celebration will be an annual tradition in all kinds of formats to celebrate the milestone service anniversaries of eligible honorees.
