HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported seven new coronavirus cases on Friday, including six imported infections, as the government added France and Russia to its COVID-19 high-risk list.

Of the new cases, one was a local case involving a 28-year-old man who works as a social worker at the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong Lei Cheng Uk House, while the other six were imported cases

The sole local case involved a 28-year-old man who lived in Tseung Kwan O. He is a social worker at the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong Lei Cheng Uk House, a halfway residence in Sham Shui Po for the mentally challenged, said Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the communicable disease branch of the Centre for Health Protection, at a news briefing.

The patient last visited the care center on Monday. He once went cycling with eight residents of the center. The eight residents have been moved to quarantine facilities, Chuang said.

The new additions brought Hong Kong's infection tally to 5,220.  A total of 130 patients are being treated in the hospitals, including 12 in critical condition.

The Hong Kong government said it would extend the opening period of the temporary virus testing center in Yau Tsim Mong district until Sunday to cater to public demand.

The other three temporary testing centers – in Wan Chai, Kwai Tsing and Kowloon City respectively – will cease operation after Friday, the government said in a statement.
