Hong Kong’s scorching heat could not dampen people’s enthusiasm when they flocked to Victoria Park, where the "Hometown Market Carnival" kicked off on Saturday.
Twenty-six Chinese mainland provincial associations in the city jointly launched the three-day carnival at the park for the first time to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The carnival sees more than 200 booths showcasing China’s homegrown dried goods, specialty cuisines, as well as ethnic handicrafts and clothing from 26 provinces.
Ten different types of performances exhibiting the cultural heritage of various places will also take place during the event.
