Asia-Pacific leaders have extended warm congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

The following is an edited selection of messages to General Secretary Xi Jinping of the CPC Central Committee or to the CPC Central Committee.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan said over the last century, the CPC has gained extensive support. China has made important contributions to maintaining global peace and development, fully demonstrating the CPC’s original aspiration and mission to seek happiness for the people. Abdullah Abdullah, leader of the National Coalition of Afghanistan and chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, also sent congratulations.

Sheikh Hasina, president of the Bangladeshi Awami League and prime minister of Bangladesh, said the country views China as a reliable partner in social and economic development, and believes that strengthening cooperation between the political parties of the two sides will bring more benefits to the people of both countries.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist-Leninist) Dilip Barua, Rashed Khan Menon, president of the Workers’ Party of Bangladesh and chairman of Bangladesh parliament’s standing committee on ministry of social welfare, also sent messages.

King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain said his country cherishes its friendship with China, attaches great importance to strengthening friendly relations between the two nations and their people, and wishes China continuous development, progress and prosperity.

Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei said the CPC has led China toward remarkable achievements in economic and social development, and made great contributions to regional development and prosperity.

Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the fourth king of Bhutan, said the CPC has led the Chinese people to turn China from a poor and backward country into a prosperous and strong one, and China’s glorious achievements have won the admiration of the world. Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering also sent greetings.

Leaders from Cambodia, including Samdech Techo Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian People’s Party, said the CPC has profoundly changed the future and destiny of the Chinese people and nation, and made important contributions to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.

Chea Monyrith, president of the Chinese Cambodian Evolution Researcher Association, Nhek Bun Chhay, president of Khmer National United Party and Norodom Ranariddh, president of the Funcinpec Party also sent messages.

Voreqe Bainimarama, leader of the FijiFirst party and prime minister of Fiji, said practical cooperation between the two countries will surely reach a higher level.

From India, Afaque Ahmad Khan, general secretary of the Janata Dal (United) party and Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) regard the CPC as the mainstay of the Chinese people’s successes.

Leaders from Indonesia who expressed their support included Bambang Soesatyo, chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly. He said the CPC and the assembly have established a sound relationship of mutual benefits, and will further foster the vigorous development of bilateral cooperation to benefit both countries’ and the people of the world.

Zulkifli Hasan, general chairman of the National Mandate Party and deputy speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly, said China’s economic success has become an important impetus for the economic growth in Asia and globally.

Puan Maharani, chair of the Political and Security Affairs of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, also speaker of Indonesia’s House of Representatives, said under General Secretary Xi Jinping’s strong leadership, the CPC will continue to bring lasting peace and prosperity to the Chinese people.

Muhaimin Iskandar, general chairman of the National Awakening Party and deputy speaker of the People’s Representative Council of Indonesia, said the CPC’s successful domestic and foreign policies have enabled China to make unprecedented achievements across fields.

Hassan Ghafourifard, former vice-president of Iran and chairman of the Foundation of Islamic Development, and Asadollah Badamchian, secretary-general of Iran’s Islamic Coalition Party, noted China made significant contributions to promoting the world’s common development and upholding fairness and justice.

Hadi al-Ameri, head of the Badr Organization of Iraq, said China, under the leadership of General Secretary Xi, has made great efforts to achieve the comprehensive development of humanity. Kawa Mahmoud, secretary of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Communist Party/Iraq, said the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by Xi is conducive to world development and improving global governance.

Adel Amer, general secretary of the Communist Party of Israel, said the CPC has been striving for the Chinese people’s happiness and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Eran Hermoni, secretary-general of Israel’s Labor Party, said he has witnessed in person China’s remarkable development achievements in recent years.

Under the CPC, China has injected strong impetus into Asia-Pacific development, according to Toshihiro Nikai, secretary-general of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Mizuho Fukushima, head of the Social Democratic Party, Natsuo Yamaguchi, leader of Komeito, Ichiro Ozawa, a member of the House of Representatives from the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan and former head of the previous Democratic Party of Japan, and Yukio Edano, leader of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan.

King Abdullah II said Jordan and China enjoy profound friendship and close cooperation. Jordan is deeply proud of that and is willing to further strengthen this strategic partnership.

Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait said since the CPC’s founding, China’s international status has risen significantly, playing an important role in promoting world peace and prosperity.

Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and president of Laos, and Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh said China’s achievements under the CPC bear crucial reference significance for developing countries.

Tiong King Sing, president of the Progressive Democratic Party of Malaysia and the Malaysian prime minister’s special envoy to China, said China’s comprehensive victory in fighting poverty demonstrates the CPC’s outstanding leadership and strong governance ability, and sets a good example for other countries’ parties and leaders.

Sim Kui Hian, president of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party, said in line with serving the people, the CPC has been working hard to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and develop China into a modern, culturally advanced and progressive country, which has exemplified state governance for other political parties worldwide.

Wee Ka Siong, Malaysia’s transport minister and president of the Malaysian Chinese Association, said the CPC, a party keeping pace with the times and pursuing progress, has withstood the test of a century and emerged stronger with full vitality.

Yong Teck Lee, president of Sabah Progressive Party, Tan Kok Wai, national chairman of the Democratic Action Party, Chuah Poh Khiang, chairman of Association of Belt and Road Malaysia, Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan, president of the Malaysia-China Friendship Association, and Ahmad Maslan, secretary-general of the United Malays National Organisation also sent messages.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari of Nepal said under the CPC’s leadership, China has become a modern, confident and powerful country.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) and former prime minister, and Ishwar Pokhrel, general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist-Leninist) and former Nepali deputy prime minister, also sent congratulations.

James Marape, prime minister of Papua New Guinea and leader of the Pangu Party, said CPC has always been committed to promoting China’s economic and social development, and has built China into a major country with great strength and advanced science and technology.

President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte said the CPC has led China to become an engine of world economic growth, which is a great achievement worthy of grand celebration in human history.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said he is willing to continue strengthening the Qatar-China strategic partnership and consolidate bilateral friendly cooperation in various fields to better benefit the two countries and their people.

Lee Hsien Loong, secretary-general of People’s Action Party and prime minister of Singapore, said the CPC has led China to overcome various challenges within and beyond its borders, and navigated the country’s way towards peace and prosperity.

Political parties in Sri Lanka collectively congratulated the CPC on its centenary, saying that under its leadership, China has always been a staunch partner and reliable friend for developing countries.

President Bashar al-Assad of Syria said the CPC has played an effective role in the international Communist movement and workers’ movement, and that its international political influence has been continuously enhanced, adding that he wishes the CPC new splendor.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand extended his heartfelt congratulations to the CPC and the Chinese people, saying the CPC has always been the backbone of China’s successful response to domestic and foreign challenges, which has not only won the deep trust of the Chinese people, but also been widely acclaimed internationally.

Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party and Thai Deputy Prime Minister, Sompong Amornvivat, leader of Pheu Thai Party, Bhokin Bhalakula, former president of the National Assembly of Thailand and president of the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association, and Korn Dabbaransi, president of Thai-Chinese Friendship Association and former deputy prime minister, also sent messages.

Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, expressed his wish that relations between the two parties and countries will enjoy sound and stable development, make solid progress and generate more fruitful results.
