HONG KONG - The Hospital Authority has welcomed the appointment of Henry Fan Hung-ling as its new chairman with effect from Dec 1, 2019, according to a press release issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's government on Thursday.
I believe Mr Fan, with his wealth of management and corporate governance experience in different areas, will bring new perspectives and impetus to the HA to overcome the challenges ahead and continue to enhance the public healthcare services of Hong Kong

Fan has been serving on a number of public organizations to contribute his strategic advice, including the Chief Executive's Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development, the board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and the Financial Services Development Council, according to the press release.
Fan was appointed as a member of the HA board last year and has been serving in various functional committees, including the finance committee, the human resources committee and the medical services development committee.

Fan was also appointed as a member of Hospital Governing Committee of Kwai Chung Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital in April this year.
Tony Ko, the Hospital Authority chief executive, said that he and all HA staff will fully support and work together with the HA board led by Fan amid the challenges of an ageing population, advancement in medical technology and manpower shortages.
"I believe Mr Fan, with his wealth of management and corporate governance experience in different areas, will bring new perspectives and impetus to the HA to overcome the challenges ahead and continue to enhance the public healthcare services of Hong Kong," Ko said.
Ko also expressed appreciation to John Leong Chi-yan for his contribution in the past six years.
