HONG KONG - Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor on Friday appealed to the people in the city to treasure Hong Kong, their shared home.
Hong Kong is built by all Hong Kong people and the city needs everybody to make efforts to work for it, Lam made the appeal in a one-minute video she posted on social media on Friday.
Titled “Treasure Hong Kong – Our Home”, the video shows the everyday life of local residents, including bus drivers, street vendors, restaurant employees, sanitary workers and office workers in the city’s business areas.
The video, produced by the Hong Kong Special Administrative government, was published as the city’s social order and people’s daily lives have been affected by violent protests since June 9.
Hong Kong, dubbed the Oriental Pearl, needs to quickly restore order so that its residents can have peace and their normal lives back, political heavyweights have said.
