Below are some highlights of Allan Zeman’s comments:
Hong Kong should revise its extradition laws to keep the city a safe place so that it can continue to attract business people, talents and visitors from all around the world.
I was very upset and angry when I saw the “children’s play” in the Legislative Council on the extradition law amendments bill. This is not a good lesson to teach our future generations.
If the deadlock continues, my suggestion is that: Don’t delay further and cost more resources and money. We should bypass the bills committee and go right to the full council so we can move forward.
One of the strengths of Hong Kong is our independent judiciary and the legal system. Let’s keep Hong Kong on the right track and move forward so we can keep the city’s core strengths and solve the most pressing problems for the public, such as housing.
Hong Kong is still a very free place. The changes I have seen since 1997 have only been for the better.
The strength of the independent judiciary in Hong Kong has not changed since 1997. I trust the judiciary very much. And I think everyone else in Hong Kong probably feels the same way.
