Carrie Lam concludes London visit

Chief Executive Carrie Lam concluded her London visit on Friday by touring a medical technology development center.

Visiting Imperial College London's Hamlyn Centre, Lam said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will strive to promote innovation and technology in healthcare.

Noting the center has co-operated with the Chinese University of Hong Kong in healthcare innovation and biomedical robotics research, she said she hopes the center will participate in more of Hong Kong's innovation and technology projects.

Lam then visited an online investment management company to learn about its application of fintech.

With its status as an international financial center and its advanced information and communication technology, she said Hong Kong provides an ideal platform for starting fintech businesses.

She also welcomed the company to launch its business in Hong Kong.

She then attended a discussion on asset management and the Belt and Road Initiative with members of the business sector in the UK. 

Highlighting Hong Kong's leading position as an international asset management center in the region and its advantages in green finance and infrastructure financing, she said Hong Kong is capable of satisfying the needs of British investors in respect of asset management, in particular for those who are interested in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Before concluding her visit to London, Lam and the other officials met with Hong Kong people living in the UK to learn about their everyday lives.

Lam left London Friday evening and will arrive in Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon.
