URUMQI - No casualties have been reported after a 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at midday Saturday, the local government said.
The tremor struck Shufu County at 12:32 p.m. Saturday at a depth of 10 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). It was immediately followed by a 3.1-magnitude quake at a depth of 12 km.

The quake was felt in Kashgar and nearby counties. Local authorities have activated an emergency response and dispatched working teams to the epicenter area.
Six villages are within 5 km of the epicenter and two townships are within 20 km.
