HK government condemns rioters' violent acts

The government and the police strongly condemned masked rioters’ violent and vandalistic acts on Sunday, which seriously breached public peace.

According to a statement issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, masked rioters rampaged at various shopping malls on Nov 10, 2019 and vandalized shops, including restaurants which were in operation, frightening staff and customers with young children.

They also attacked police officers in a shopping mall to enable an arrested person to escape. Some rioters also blocked roads in various districts and set fire to barricades.

The masked rioters completely disregard law and order as well as other people's safety and rights, and their acts are outrageous, according to the statement.

The government will not tolerate violent acts and police will take resolute enforcement action to bring all lawbreakers to justice

The police force also issued a statement, strongly condemning rioters' violent and vandalistic acts.

Police reiterated that no violent behavior will be tolerated, and police will continue to take resolute enforcement action so as to safeguard the city’s public safety and bring all lawbreakers to justice.
