SEOUL - An explosion at a South Korean munitions factory in the country's central region killed at least two workers and seriously injured three, Yonhap news agency reported Tuesday.
The fire broke out at 4:17 pm local time due to an explosion from a Hanwha munitions factory in Daejon city, Chungcheong province.
Two workers inside have been confirmed dead, with three others taken to nearby hospital.
The firefighting authorities sent 29 firetrucks and 53 firefighters to the scene to bring the blaze under control.
The fire has been extinguished, and the authorities were investigating an exact cause of the explosion.
