MUZAFFARABAD — Pakistani police say a mudslide after heavy rains killed seven members of a single family, including five children, in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.

Police official Raja Zulqarnain said on Sunday that the seven died when their house collapsed the previous day in the village of Ajeera.

Two other village homes were damaged. The village lies near the militarized Line of Control in the district of Rawla Kot.

Zulqarnai says rescue teams with the help of villagers retrieved the bodies of those killed.

Landslides and flash floods are common across Pakistan during the monsoon season, especially in the mountains, killing many people every year.

The disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir is divided between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan and claimed by both it in its entirety.
