Envoy: China to participate in Iraq reconstruction

KUWAIT CITY – China will continue to provide assistance within its capacity to Iraq through bilateral ways and participate in the economic reconstruction of the war-torn country, a Chinese envoy said on Wednesday. 

China respects the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, and congratulates Iraq for retrieving all the territories occupied by the extreme organization

China supports Iraq's efforts in realizing national stability and development, China’s Ambassador to Kuwait Wang Di said at the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI) held in Bayan Palace in Kuwait. 

China respects the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, and congratulates Iraq for retrieving all the territories occupied by the extreme organization, he added.

The ambassador also said China supports the efforts made by Iraqi government in safeguarding peace and stability and realizing national reconciliation and economic reconstruction.

China and Iraq enjoy a traditional friendly relationship, Iraq is considered as China's important cooperative partner in West Asia and North Africa, he said. 

In recent years, the practical cooperation between the two counties is steadily moving forward, and China is willing to further cooperate with Iraq in all areas under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, he added.

Chinese companies have always been participating in the construction of Iraq in all areas such as oil-gas, electric, communication, infrastructure and etc, he said.

The three-day KICRI kicked off Monday in Kuwait City, which brought together several economic powers as well as regional and international organizations, to make contributions to rebuilding Iraq after many years of war and conflict that ripped through various parts of the country.
