HONG KONG - The eldest son of the Under Secretary for Education Christine Choi Yuk-lin was found dead after falling from an apartment block in Yau Ma Tei about noon on Thursday.
A police spokesperson said a guard at residential complex Sorrento found an unconscious man who had fallen onto the ninth-floor podium of the premises shortly before noon.
The 25-year-old was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was later certified dead.
Initial investigations did not reveal any suspicious circumstances, police said.
Choi thanked every party for their care and asked for some space to her family following the tragedy to help them pull through such hardship, according to her statement via a press secretary on Thursday afternoon.
Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung Yun-hung expressed his condolences and deepest sympathy for Choi and her family, saying he and the bureau would offer her their full support.
The Yau Tsim Police District is in charge of the case.
