A police officer was hit by a petrol bomb thrown by a radical protester in Tsim Sha Tsui and suffered burns to his legs, the Hong Kong Police Force confirmed.
The Commissioner of Police Lo Wai-chung said he was sad to hear that an officer had sustained serious injuries while on duty. After visiting the officer in Princess Margaret Hospital, Lo also expressed his anger and strongly condemned the “reckless, violent and unlawful acts” committed by radical protesters.
Police will strive to investigate all violent acts which have caused serious and even life-threatening injuries, a police statement said.
According to reports, an initial diagnosis showed that the officer suffered 10 percent second-degree burns on his left leg, while suffering 3 percent first-degree burns on his right leg.
