BEIJING – China on Wednesday called for joint efforts to safeguard the improving situation on the Korean Peninsula.
China is committed to the goal of denuclearization of the peninsula, safeguarding the peace and stability of the region and solving problems through dialogue and consultation.

"The Chinese side expounded our consistent and clear stance on the Korean Peninsula issue," Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a news briefing in Beijing.
Geng responded to a question about a meeting between Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, and Japanese national security advisor Shotaro Yachi. The two officials held the fifth China-Japan high-level political dialogue in Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu province on Tuesday.

"The two sides exchanged views on China-Japan relations as well as international and regional issues of common concern in a candid and in-depth way," Geng said.
"China is committed to the goal of denuclearization of the peninsula, safeguarding the peace and stability of the region and solving problems through dialogue and consultation.”
China also maintains that UN Security Council resolutions should be implemented in a comprehensive and balanced way, he added.

"Under the current circumstances, all relevant parties should cherish and safeguard the hard-won momentum of improvement of the situation on the peninsula, and play a constructive role in advancing the political settlement of the peninsula issue."
