Russia, DPRK hold strategic dialogue

MOSCOW - Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held the first round of strategic dialogue at the level of first deputy foreign ministers here on Wednesday.

Both sides exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, as well as other key issues on the international agenda, according to a press release issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry

Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and his DPRK counterpart Choe Son-hui noted the high dynamics of political contacts and exchanges between the two countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release following the meeting.

They discussed in detail the state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to cooperation in practical areas, according to the press release.

Both sides exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, as well as other key issues on the international agenda, according to the press release.

On the sidelines of the dialogue, the DPRK diplomat also met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and top DPRK leader Kim Jong-un agreed during their talks in Russia's Vladivostok in April to launch strategic dialogue between the countries.
