HONG KONG – Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor has submitted a report to the central government on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government's ban on the separatist Hong Kong National Party in accordance with the law, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
Contents of the report, which was submitted on Tuesday, includes the case background and the summary of the process, according to the press release issued by the HKSAR government.

The report was submitted as requested by the central government in an official letter issued on Feb 26. In the letter, the central government voiced its support for the HKSAR government's ban on the HKNP in accordance with the law.
The letter also reiterated that the HKSAR has the constitutional responsibility to safeguard national security in accordance with the law. It also noted that it is the duty of the HKSAR government to safeguard national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
Contains the main body of the report was released to the public on Thursday, according to the press release.
