HA reserves clinic quotas to support COVID-19 patients

HONG KONG - All general out-patient clinics will implement special measures to reserve sufficient quotas to support COVID-19 patients in order to align with the government's cancellation of issuing isolation orders starting from Monday, the Hospital Authority announced on Sunday.

Except the Kam Tin Clinic and Lek Yuen General Out-Patient Clinics, all of the 71 clinics will resume normal operation from Monday to provide treatment service to COVID-19 patients and prescribe oral drugs to them as appropriate, the HA said in a statement.

“General out-patient clinics have enhanced its episodic consultations to more than 10 000 quotas daily, and among the quotas, around 2 000 are reserved for COVID-19 patients. Besides, additional reserved quotas in day and evening clinic session will be deployed to support COVID-19 patients as appropriate,” a spokesperson for the HA said.

All COVID-19 patients can use the "Book COVID (GOPC)" function of the "HA Go" mobile app or the general out-patient clinics phone appointment system to make a reservation.

Patients can also call the HA enquiry hotline 1836 115, which will support all COVID-19 patients, including the referral of COVID-19 patients who are in need of general out-patient clinics for further treatment.

Seven "Care Booking Line" will continue to provide assistance to the patients, where priority will be given to high-risk patients to make appointments, including the elderly, children aged 5 or below, women at 28 or more weeks of pregnancy, and immunocompromised patients.

Starting from Monday, the HA would announce the information of general out-patient clinics quota reserved for COVID-19 patients at 8.30 am and 1 pm at the HA website and the HA patient designated website "Walk with Us – Combat COVID-19".

The HA urged patients with mild COVID-19 symptoms or lower risk to consult private doctors in order to alleviate the pressure on the accident and emergency or the services of general out-patient clinics.

“The HA will continue to adjust services according to the situation to take care of other patients in need”, the spokesperson said.
