HK, Macao students join Shenzhen entrepreneurship camp

Shenzhen University has organized a trip of a group of students and teachers from Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland to an elite entrepreneurship and innovation training camp in Shenzhen.

The event is also part of an exchange program among Hong Kong, Macao and mainland colleges initiated by the Ministry of Education.

The 15-day training camp, which began on Thursday, includes online courses, forums and offline visits to startups and incubators.

Song Liming, Doctoral student, Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Song Liming, a doctoral student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, joined the camp with a startup project of AI-powered X-ray medical imaging techniques. He said he expects the camp to increase his understanding of the market.

On the first day of the camp, Song made a lot of friends and set up a team to develop and prepare a roadshow of the startup project.

“I am relatively good at doing research, but not professional at market value estimation and promotion. With the support of the team, I can better improve this project,” he said.

Kelvin Wong, interim director of Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship at PolyU, said the event aims to cultivate entrepreneurs, and also facilitate the commercialization of scientific research.

Jerome Yen, head of Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Macau, said students in the school applied for the event actively, according to Shenzhen Evening News.

He said the school encourages students to broaden their horizons, learn more about the society’s latest development, and enhance their ability to integrate resources.
