Hong Kong shares end higher on Friday

SHANGHAI - Hong Kong shares closed higher on Friday, led by tech companies.

The Hang Seng Index gained 0.46 percent to 20,175.62, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index added 0.50 percent to 6,857.48 points.

Mainland property developers traded in Hong Kong gained 0.3 percent, as confidence in the sector recovered a bit after Longfor Group denied rumors that it had missed payment on commercial paper.

Hong Kong-listed tech companies edged up 0.5 percent percent, with index heavyweights Alibaba and Meituan up more than 1 percent each.

Sportswear group Li Ning Co surged nearly 5 percent, as its first-half net profit and revenue jumped.
