SHENZHEN - Increased medical-field integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has benefited hundreds of mainland people ever since mainland hospitals in the region were first allowed to introduce drugs and medical devices from Hong Kong and Macao a year ago.
Thirteen urgently needed imported drugs and four imported medical devices had been introduced as of March under the Hong Kong and Macao Medicine and Equipment Connect, benefiting more than 450 people
According to the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital in Shenzhen, 13 urgently needed imported drugs and four imported medical devices had been introduced as of March under the Hong Kong and Macao Medicine and Equipment Connect, benefiting more than 450 people.
The imports cover drugs and medical equipment used for patients in obstetrics, oncology, hematology, orthopedics, etc.
The program allows designated mainland hospitals to use Hong Kong-approved drugs and medical devices without prior certification from the National Medical Products Administration.

The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital was the first hospital to test the program. Four other hospitals — two in Guangzhou, one in Zhuhai and one in Zhongshan — have also been included in the program.
