A veteran architect who has designed multiple public facilities in Northwest China's Shaanxi province will share his insights with students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong on Thursday afternoon about the relationship between architecture and culture.

Zhao Yuanchao, chief architect of the China Northwest Architectural Design and Research Institute Co Ltd, has participated in the design of the library and nature museum of Shaanxi province, the airport and the international convention and exhibition center of Xi'an, provincial capital of Shaanxi, and the technology park of Xi'an Jiaotong University, a prestigious educational institution in China.

Zhao was rated among the nation's top 100 architects by the Architectural Society of China in 2012. His professional qualification has also been recognized by both the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.

In a 90-minute-lecture at CUHK, Zhao will share his thoughts on the relationships between architecture, natural environment, and humans by taking examples from construction projects in Xi'an and Yan'an, two cities of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The event is the last of four lectures delivered by members of a delegation of the nation's leading experts in architecture and engineering. They arrived in Hong Kong on Sunday and started their six-day public activities in the city on Monday.
