HK sees 1 new imported COVID-19 infection

HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported one new imported COVID-19 case on Thursday, bringing the city’s tally to 12,277. 

The Centre for Health Protection said in a statement that the new patient is a 30-year-old foreign domestic worker from Indonesia. 

When she completed her quarantine on October 7, she returned to the residence of her employer at Tower 10, Phase 3 - The Graces, Providence Bay, Tai Po. She developed symptoms the following day

She arrived in Hong Kong on September 17 from via flight CX798. The patient tested negative for the virus upon her arrival at the Hong Kong International Airport.

The results of the six tests conducted during her compulsory quarantine period at Silka Tsuen Wan hotel were also all negative, the CHP said.

When she completed her quarantine on October 7, she returned to the residence of her employer at Tower 10, Phase 3 - The Graces, Providence Bay, Tai Po. She developed symptoms the following day.

The CHP said the patient underwent another test on Oct 12 and the test result was positive but with low viral load. Her test results after admission to hospital was indeterminate. 

The patient had received two doses of the CoronaVac shot on July 9 and August 11 in Indonesia, the CHP said.

It added that an epidemiological investigation and contact tracing was continuing. 

“As a prudent measure, the places where she resided and visited in Hong Kong during the incubation period have been included in a compulsory testing notice,” the CHP said.

It added that a total of 61 cases were reported from Sept 30 to Oct 13, including a local infection of unknown origin while the rest were imported.
