HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported six new cases of COVID-19 infection on Saturday — all of which imported — bringing the overall tally to 12,100.

The new cases included a five-month-old baby girl from Azerbaijan who developed symptoms on Aug 24, the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health said in a statement. She has resided at Regal Airport Hotel in Chek Lap Kok after arriving in Hong Kong.

The remaining cases involved three men and two women aged between 18 and 53. They had traveled from the US, Belgium, Myanmar, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates, respectively. All remained asymptomatic.

Three of them have got two doses of the BioNTech vaccine while one patient has received one dose of the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine, according to the CHP.

According to the Hospital Authority, 65 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized in 10 public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, including one patient who was in serious condition.

Among them, some 3.28 million people are fully immunized, accounting for 48.9 percent of the eligible groups.

The figures are a hard-won result, Secretary for the Civil Service of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government Patrick Nip said, noting that vaccination is crucial to a possible loosing of social distancing measures and travel restrictions.
