HONG KONG - More than 3 million people in Hong Kong have taken at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccines, accounting for 44.6 percent of the eligible population.

Since the rollout of Hong Kong's vaccination program on Feb 26, some 2.23 million people have been fully vaccinated, representing 32.9 percent of the eligible group -- people aged 12 or above -- official data showed.

The city's Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan Siu-chee said it is encouraging that residents are actively getting the vaccines. She urged more people, in particular the aged, to take the jab.

Hong Kong on Sunday reported three new imported cases of COVID-19, taking the total tally in Hong Kong to 11,978.

The new infections involved a 31-year-old woman who had traveled to Spain, Greece, Italy, and Switzerland before arriving in Hong Kong; a 38-year-old man from Tanzania; and a 35-year-old man from Russia. They all had no symptoms.

According to the CHP, a total of 25 cases have been reported in the past 14 days, including 24 imported cases and one import-related case.
