HONG KONG — Hong Kong residents on Thursday celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 24th anniversary of the city's return to the motherland.
Hundreds of fishing boats decorated with celebratory messages cruised along Victoria Harbour to mark the two occasions.
Trams decorated in red and gold with CPC elements offered free rides for the entire day.
Meanwhile, Hongkong Post released a commemorative stamp issue and associated philatelic products on the theme of the CPC’s centenary.
