As the saying goes: "We can't change the environment, but we can change our mood."
More than a year after it started, the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading around the world, killing millions of people, and making life difficult for the rest. And it doesn’t seem to be ending soon. Since the situation is too difficult to change for a while, why not fight the virus with an optimistic and cheerful attitude and live a good life?
Looking back at the past, mankind has experienced countless disasters in throughout history. Each time, our ancestors have come out stronger and more advanced through compassion, courage and dedication.

Likewise, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought out some of the best human virtues. For instance, thoughtfulness, first and foremost, by simply wearing facemasks properly and keeping social distance.

Many medical workers went to help people in Wuhan, the Chinese city hit hard by the pandemic. Such fearless spirit demonstrates the goodness of human nature. Besides, countless ordinary citizens demonstrated their great love by donating their time, money and other things.
These noble acts can still be seen out there. All the people who have endured and overcome COVID-19-related difficulties should be recognized as "heroes of the world".
Moreover, there have also been many outstanding scientists and doctors who have made major contributions to fight the pandemic. For instance, the distinguished General Dr Chen Wei and her group have developed novel diagnostic kits and vaccines. Just as importantly, academician Dr Zhong Nanshan and his team have provided excellent scientific research and judgment to bring the pandemic under control.

Furthermore, as a possible long-term solution to enhance convenient applications and compliance of vaccination, one of us and his team have for decades been developing vaccines against infectious diseases in animals and human beings (China Daily, 2015.11.05) with the aim of shipping these vaccines at room temperature to every home across the world for immunization through oral absorption.
These vaccines have already been known to be safe and efficacious against viral diseases in animals, and hopefully, will also work for humans.
Finally, during an international conference on COVID-19 via Zoom on March 2, both Chinese professor Zhong Nanshan and Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, US, emphasized the importance of an international collaboration to keep COVID-19 at bay and save millions of lives worldwide.
