Mainland sees 7 new imported cases, zero new local cases

BEIJING/CHANCHUN/WUHAN/SHANGHAI - Chinese health authorities said Tuesday that no new domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported on the Chinese mainland on Monday.

Seven imported cases were reported, including five in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, one in Shanghai and one in Fujian, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

The case in Shanghai involves a Chinese national who departed from Britain and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on May 23, according to local health authorities. The patient showed symptoms during the isolated observation period and was later confirmed as a COVID-19 patient. The patient has been sent for medical treatment, while 44 close contacts on the flight have been put under quarantine.

Meanwhile, no new suspected cases and no deaths related to the disease were reported on the mainland, according to the commission.

On Monday, nine patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery.

As of Monday, a total of 82,992 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, and 4,634 people had died of the disease.

Altogether, 78,277 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals by the end of Monday, the commission said, adding that there were still 81 patients being treated.

The mainland had reported a total of 1,731 imported cases as of Monday. Out of those cases, 1,685 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 46 remained hospitalized with one in severe condition. No deaths from imported cases had been reported.

Also on Monday, 29 new asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland and no asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed cases.

A total of 22 asymptomatic cases were released from medical observation Monday, while 403 asymptomatic cases, including 28 from overseas, remained under medical observation, the commission said.

Hubei

No new confirmed cases were reported in central China's Hubei province on Monday, the provincial health commission said Tuesday.

The province reported 26 new asymptomatic cases on Monday.

By Monday, Hubei has six existing confirmed COVID-19 cases, including one in severe condition and one in critical condition. The total number of asymptomatic cases under medical observation was 334 by Monday, according to the commission.

Hubei has so far reported 68,135 confirmed COVID-19 cases in total, including 50,340 in Wuhan.

Jilin

In northeast China's Jilin province, no new confirmed cases and asymptomatic cases were reported on Monday, the provincial health commission said Tuesday.

As of Monday, the province had reported a total of 136 confirmed cases transmitted locally, including two deaths and 109 recoveries.

There were still 25 patients receiving treatment in hospital, with three in severe condition, all in the city of Jilin.

Shanghai

The municipal health commission of Shanghai said a total of 328 imported cases had been reported in Shanghai by Monday. Among them, eight patients remain hospitalized, with one of them in severe condition.

On Monday, no new cases transmitted locally were reported in Shanghai. The municipality has reported a total of 341 confirmed cases transmitted locally by Monday, including seven deaths.

HK, Macao, Taiwan

By Monday, 1,065 confirmed cases, including four deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 45 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 441 in Taiwan, including seven deaths.

A total of 1,030 patients in Hong Kong, 45 in Macao, and 415 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
